When I started losing weight, it was as if something just clicked. I was serious. I ran a sucky 10K race, and was overweight. I felt and looked like I was wearing a fat suit. Instead, I was just fat. So I set out a new exercise plan, and decided to watch my diet more closely.
To kick off my new program, I did the Shakeology Cleanse. I lost 7 pounds with the cleanse, awesome! I have been drinking Shakeology daily for breakfast as a meal replacement. By drinking it, I have gained so much more energy, reduced my cravings for junk food, and lowered my cholesterol.
Shakeology is a delicious, yummy treat for breakfast. My chocolate shake in the morning truely tastes like a dark chocolate Frosty. It is gluten-free, using all natural ingredients, and low on the glycemic index. I know of people using it who have had their diabetes improve, digestive and IBS symptoms improve, and cholesterol improve.
Here's a short video about Shakeology:
So to share with you my success, and to celebrate my new blog, I've decided to have a giveaway! I love giveaways, just as much as I love blogs! I've actually one a few giveaways. (There are real people on the other side of the Internet!)
What is included?
9 packets (3 for each day) of Shakeology
6 bags of Green Tea
Instructions for the cleanse
What is the Shakeology Cleanse?
The Shakeology cleanse is not fasting. It’s a nutrient dense way of eating for 3 days that allows your body to re-energize. The clean, simple, easy to digest food allows your body to process waste… and the fiber in the salad and shakes act like a towel in your system for a squeaky clean start to your diet or to break a plateau. It’s a cleanse that gives you the nutrients you need.
You get around 900-1200 calories a day (depending on fruit intake) if you follow the plan, so you won’t be a zombie for three days, but it can be slightly difficult at first. Don’t plan on working out too hard during these days due to the calorie intake. The cleanse can also be modified to 1 or 2 days to fit your liking or schedule. It’s not meant to be done for more than 3 days.
Now on to the cleanse basics!
WHAT YOU NEED:
3 SHAKEOLOGY Shakes a day
2 Cups of Green Tea a Day
1 or 2 pieces of fruit a day
1 Salad for dinner with low fat dressing and 4 oz white grilled or baked protein.
JUST SAY NO – Dairy (incl. soy or almond milk) or extra sugars are not permitted on the cleanse
REPEAT all 3 Days
1 or 2 cups of Green Tea, or the green tea pills.
BREAKFAST:
Shakeology, 1 packet
add ice
8-10 oz of water
Blend until smooth
SNACK
1 serving of fruit (any fruit you’d like!)
LUNCH:
Shakeology, 1 packet
Add ice
10 oz of water
Blend until smooth
SNACK
1 serving of fruit (any fruit you’d like!)
DINNER:
Salad with Grilled white fish or poultry
1 serving Low Fat Salad Dressing

Need a morning work out buddy
I feel so much better when I work out early, before the kids wake up. I have gotten away from that. I love having my workout done for the day. And being able to add a second workout if I choose.
Who wants to be my morning workout buddy and help me stay accountable?
The alarm clock is not my friend!

Mostly great 12 mile run
My hubbie and I were able to juggle schedules, and I did my 12 mile run on Monday. It was a beautiful day, a bit warm for my tastes, but a strong wind which helped.
I felt really good... Kept it closed to a 10:30 pace for the first half. The second half, not as great. I really slowed down. I had decided to wear my thicker socks as practice for the half. I learned my lesson- no thick socks for the half. I could really feel a blister forming on one of my left toes. And the outside of my right knee was really tightening up. But I did finish 12 miles in 2:12, so just over an 11 minute pace. If I can maintain just a bit faster I can hopefully reach my goal of 2:20. I spent a lot of time stretching afterwards with my foam roller. I wasn't as sore after muscular wise. I did end up popping the blister under my toenail. I think it may fall off eventually.

The Back Up Plan
Most runners training for a longish distance race follow some sort of training plan. We have to ramp up our mileage, practice for hills, and work on our speed. Then check it off on our nice little calendar that it was done, then all will be perfect and we will PR the race. Right?
Well, not everyone's lives are nice and perfect and tied with a bow. Not mine certainly! I'm all for setting goals and making plans to reach those goals. But when do you do when LIFE (not excuses), gets in the way of those plans?
We need a back up plan.
My long runs poo on the thought of plans, I guess. Last week I was supposed to run 12 miles on Wednesday. Pretty much my only time for long runs, since my son is at preschool for 2.5 hours that day. 12 miles takes me just about 2.5 hours with time for a mini cool down and stretching. That is if I run around the preschool and don't mind looking like a rat drowned in sweat picking him up.
Why is that the only time I can run? Well, I could wake up at 5am and run my whole long run in the dark before hubbie leaves for work... An option, yes, but not ideal. I could run on the treadmill while my son watches a movie. Not ideal for either of us.
Sooooooo..... My daughter wakes up with an ear infection. I take her to the doctor while my son is at preschool. Then have to run to the grocery store and pharmacy. Then pick son up from preschool.
Luckily, my husband offers to watch the kids that afternoon after his conference call for me to run. By that time it is pushing75 degrees and full sun... Too hot for me! So instead, I ran 8 miles on the treadmill, and planned another 6 for Friday to make up my miles. That was my backup plan for the week.
Next week I am already to plan B before it even starts. Preschool has a parent meeting during preschool hours when my long run is planned. Plan B.... My husband is going (eegads!) so sign me up for the good stuff at e parties dear! I fear I will be game leader at each party!

The Biggest Loser
Who is excited for The Biggest Loser? I am! Usually my husband and I watch it and eat! It has become sort of a joke for us, let's eat and watch fat people, while we become fat! LOL!
I am a little apprehensive a bout this season. Jillian is gone, and she was awesome! Brett is hot! I guess I'll just have to buy Rev Abs. I don't know how an athlete will compare to actual personal trainers. It is hard to compare to last seasons contestants too. Loved Olivia and all the girls!
I am having a Fall motivational Biggest Loser Contest. Just a place for some friendly competition and maybe even some prizes. It will be a private FB page, so if you want to post numbers, no need to be embarrassed.

Mommy's little helper
I have a 6yo and a 3.5 yo.
My 6yo is in school all day. My little boy is in preschool in the mornings 2days a week.
I do my workout videos in the afternoon and he like to watch and "help". He calls Shaun T. of the Coach and reminds me when it is time to take a break and he gets very concerned if I don't drink my water when they do in the videos.
Today I did Chalene's Turbo Fire HIIT 20. OMG, Hi-larious! He loved trying the exercises. Hi favorite was the HIIT interals....it's fire time mommy! And we had to do the high fives after each one. "High five mommy!"
I must say that CHalene is just soooo cute and smiley, like a cheery cheery cheerleader. But it was fun, even if I did get messed up with the choreography some. And my sone was still calling her the "coach."

Pizza Roll-Up
Pizza Roll-Up
This looks like a great snack item for my kids. Wonder if I could sneak the spinach in there without them seeing?

11 mile run...check!
Today I ran 11miles in preparation for the Waddell and Reed Kansas City Half Marathon.
With my husband traveling for work, and two kids at home, it is hard to fit in workouts. I love having the treadmill at home, and being able to do the Beachbody workout videos. But 11 miles on the treadmill isn't going to cut it. And doing my Insanity videos for 3 hours strait just isn't the same. Although I would love to go on a long run with Shaun T!
So I get to run during preschool. Which means I have 2.5 hours to get my run in if I leave directly from preschool.
Here is a confession: I am not fast. I am pretty much a slow-poke. Although I think I am getting decently faster as i lose weight, I will never be semi-fast. I DO consider myself to b A RUNNER. But if you happened to see me running, it would not look so much like running.
Training for this half will require some creative scheduling as my long runs increase. I ran this 11 mile run in straight up 2 hours and some seconds. That puts me right at 11 minute miles for training runs. That really makes me happy. My last (and only other) half I ran in 2:28. Which I was really Yay! About at the time. So I really want to bet that time, and secretly, beat 2:20. So, if "they" say you run up to 30 sec per mile faster during the race, I should meet that goal. I did run faster during my last half than my training runs, so hopefully that is true.
I ran today while it was raining and in the 50's. Not totally ideal, but better than the hot 75 degrees when I originally planned to run on Monday. I wore a hat, and a running jacket (nice cause I could put my gu's in my pocket), so it really kept the rain off of me. It was pretty chilly at the end, being damp and all....it only rained the first half though. Where is that Mylar space blanket when I need it?!
Feel free to say hi! This is my first running blog!
