Of Wagons

I have been sparse here, and I apologise.

I want to talk about wagons. People talk about being on the wagon, or off the wagon. "I fell off the wagon."  Was it really a fall, or an accident?  Most behavior is intended. You chose to get off.  With fitness, I think, people don't actually chose to get off, they chose to NOT stay on.

And what is a wagon?  It has wheels, and a handle for someone to pull it around.  With fitness, and behavior, and decision making, do you let someone pull you around?  Or do you use your own legs and your own mind to decide what to do and where to go?  Kind of a bad euphamism, if you ask me.

So anyway, some could say I have been a little "off the wagon."  Or you could say taking an unintended break.  Or how about just maintaining while life gets in the way?

Since the half-marathon, I have really just been exercising one day a week.  Gooing to my Jagalates class because I paid for it.  So I have maintained a low level of fitness with  that and a small running base.  I have been drinking my daily Shakeology and eating OK, but not truly healthy.  My weight as stayed within 5 pounds fluctuating from when I ran my half.  Mostly, I have been eating girl scout cookies.  And not just the reccommended serving size.  My 6yo is selling them and they are in the garage.  So we just grab a box and open them. Those things are like crack, the carmel delights are my fave.  But my goal yesterday was no GS cookies and I made it.  So repeat that today.

So I am back in my game plan now.  I want to continue to slowly lose weight through the holidays, maintain the exercise habits of at least 4 days per week, getting up early to exercise, and get back to regular healthy eating.

I have started my Insanity challenge group, which helps me focus and set a good example for all you in the group.

So I will be running and doing Insanity through Christmas.

I am setting up a special Christmas challenge group, so send me a message if you are interested!

Shakeology helped reverse her Fibromyalgia symptoms

Friends,

Here is an amazing testimonial I have reposted with permission. Tis amazing women has gone from being in a wheelchair to being active just from drinking Shakeology and being focused in her workouts. She was even able to complete P90X! Read below and get inspired!

If you have more questions about Shakeology, please contact me!

------------------------

In 1992 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia as I started having pains all over my body. Achy, and tired all the time. As the years went on with my new diagnosis the pains got worse and the fatigue got bad.

My Dr tried many medications and new medications came out and clinical trials to try and get my pain under control, yet nothing worked, and I hated feeling "drugged" all the time. I even tried accupuncture, and massage therapy was excruciatingly painful. And well hypnosis didn't work either.

In 2004 I started using a forearm crutch to assist me in walking. This was devistating because I used to be a competitive long distance swimmer and was so active all the time. And now I couldn't even play with my kids.

There are some that say that surgery exasterbates fibromyalgia and I have had seven since 1999- 2009, and in 2007 I humbled myself and sat myself in a wheelchair for the days that the forearm crutch couldn't help me because I couldn't even stand up or sit down or have the strength to grasp the crutch. I used to crawl up and down the stairs.

In 2009 I convinced myself there had to be something out there that could help and all the research said was excercise.. and I thought how can I when I can barely walk on most days.

In February of 2010 I started a workout program and my coach suggested that I start drinking a shake called Shakeology. It would give me energy and help me loose weight and it had all this good nutrition. I said ok.. can't hurt right?

Never did I ever imagine that my energy did come back! I was able to do more and longer workouts and didn't have to rest 2-4 days in agony from working out.

But my number one dream and prayer had happened.. one day and I can't remember when it happened... I woke up without a single ounce of pain! This was one of the single most happiest moments of my life! And since I started drinking Shakeology I have stopped taking all medication. No more pain medications, my mood was better, my energy was incredible. And NO FLAIR UPS!

In the fall of 2010 my boys who were entering 9th grade, and were on the cross country team in school... and I.. yes I was the assistant coach of Boys Cross Country!!. It wasnt that long ago that I was in a wheelchair and I was outside everyday in all of the nasty fall weather of Central New York running!

Today I can play with my kids and I am an any day soon to be grandma.. I can run in the fields, and on the roads of the countryside, and today I workout with high impact cardio workouts and muscle building.. and do 5 sets of 10 pullups.

The nutrition and the quality of the shakes is undeniable and unsurpassed. And everyday I am blessed for the quality of life I have now... and its all because I drink Shakeology .. it literally has been life changing. And to think where I would be if I never tried it.... still in pain :(

Great story!

I am planning my November Givaway now. So check back soon for the deets.

Running with Friends

How many of you combine exercise with social time?

I was never one for group sports growing up.  I preferred tennis, swimming, and reading ;)

I tried softball, was decent at it, was the pitcher and all, but really didn't care for it.

In my 20s, I loved going to the gym and doing froup exercise classes- loved Step!!  But did it for myself.  I started running in college- but on my gym's treadmill.  Such a shame, never ran while I lived on campus.  I did run planty of times off campus, miss all those trails!

But I always ran by myself, for myself.  I was part of the original John Bingham's Penguin Runners back in the 90s, and met up with some locals for that group to do some relay runs.  But I still ran for myself.

I have certainly run alot with my kids.  Pushing them in the jogging stroller, then the double jogger, now they are bored with it.  And I have gotten a few of my friends excited to run.  And we have run races together, but not really together, because now my friends outrun me.

And I have run with my dog.  Who loves to run, and waits at the door whenever I go out.  Whines at the door while I am out on my long runs.  And gets a few laps when I get back.

But I have never been part of a running group, or team.  There are many groups out there that meet weekly for runs before or after work.  Train for races together.  Share in lost toenails and new shoes.  Celebrate the PR's and the DNF's.

Soooooo...... I joined a group called Joggalates.  We meet at 5:15am!  And we run 2-3 miles and then do Pilates.  And I get home before the kids are awake.  Win-win situation, huh?

It sure is early!  But I enjoy getting the workouts in.  I am too tired to talk myself out of it.  I am more likely to get going if others are there waiting for me.

And then one of them lives near me and invited me to their weekly 5am runs.  I may have to get some cold weather gear first.  And if I buy a running headlamp, does that make me a geek?

But, needless to say, I am branching out and trying to be less solitary.  And hopefully it will help my fitness and keep me accountable.

Speaking of accountability.....
I'm creating an Insanity and Turbo Fire Accountablilty group.  Come join my Beachbody Challenge group and help you get and keep fit throught the Holidays.  Get a leg up on all those Resolutioners!  Contact me for more details!
