About Mommy Jogger

This was me when I was fat.  Sure, there are larger people out there, but for me, on my almost 5'4" frame this was fat.  My BMI was in the overweight range, and actually about 5 pounds from the obese range.  That actually outraged me.  Me?  Obese?  I still viewed myself in my mind as average, everyday normal sized 10 me.  I refused to buy anything larger than size 12, which meant nothing fit me.  Thank god for scrubs at work!  I was between 168-172 pounds at this time.

In this picture I am exercising.  Good for me!  But really, I was exercising not consistantly, and fooling myself with nutrition.  This was the Hospital Hill Race in Kansas City.  If you are from here, you know it is brutal.  It is Hilly and Hot and Humid!  It is the first weekend in June, which isn't bad, but it suddenly gets hot that time of year and people don't have time to acclimate.

Anyway, this race was my wake-up call.  I had slacked off on training (non-existant.)  So I was just aiming to finish and not die and run most of it.  It was a 10K and I have never run that distance before.  I was seriously wanting to take th 5K turnoff.  I ended up walking many of the hills and finishing in around 1 hr 17 min.

But I saw the pics and OMG.  It's like I am wearing a fat suit!

So I decided to really focus.  I had signed up for the warrior dash at the end of July.  I wanted to look cute in costumes with my friends.  I wanted to not die over the obstacles.  I decided to whip out my Insanity videos and seriously do them.  I wanted the "I finished" Tshirt.  I wanted to lose some weight nd feel better about myself and fit into all my clothes.  I started drinking Shakeology regularly and did the Shakeology cleanse to jump start things.  I lost 7 pounds on the cleanse and 20 pounds in 2 months!

So far I have lost 30 pounds on this journey.  I am still and will always be a WORK in PROGRESS.  To hold me accountable, I decided to join as a Team Beachbody Coach, to help encourage others to make a change like I did.  I know it will hold me accountable to keep exercising and focus on my nutrition to be a role model for others to show that everyday people can do this.  You don't need a personal trainer, chef, or dietician.  All those are helpful, sure.  But I don't have those resources.

I have 2 kids at home and my husband travels.  When he is gone, I can't get out of the house to run, so I run on the treadmill.  I pop in my Insanity videos in the morning before my kids get up and get a workout in.  I drink my Shakeology shake in the morning when I am busy getting the kids ready and need a quick healthy breakfast for myself.

As a middle aged mom, it is sooooo easy to put everything else first in your life.  Don't forget to lose focus on you.  To keep you healthy, be a good role model for your kids.
